Deleting Custom Data Elements

Overview

In the Data Mapping & Risk Manager (DMRM), you can permanently delete custom data elements that are no longer needed. Only custom data elements can be deleted — default system data elements cannot be removed.

This article explains how to delete a custom data element, including what to expect when the element is linked to existing business process or system records.

To delete a custom data element, follow these steps:

In the left navigation panel, click the Settings icon (1) and then select the Data Elements box (2). The Data Elements page opens.

To the right of the custom data element record you want to delete, click the context menu icon, and then select Delete.

📋 Note: Only custom data elements can be deleted. The Delete option is not available for default system data elements.

If the data element is linked to a business process or system record, a confirmation dialog appears. Click Delete to confirm.

⚠️ Warning: This action cannot be undone. Once deleted, the data element is permanently removed and will no longer be available for selection in data element dropdown lists across the platform.
