Control Tab

The Control tab allows you to configure the Double Opt-in and Consent Rule. The Double Opt-in feature has to be enabled first for a selected jurisdiction under Setup > Jurisdiction > Double Opt-in.

Under Double Opt-in Control section (1), an email field is required as this will be used to send a reminder to the Data Subject to re-confirm their consent. Only email form fields set as Required are listed as options for Email Recipient. Under the Jurisdictions section, the countries listed are based on the Jurisdiction Form Field in the Form Builder. Some countries are disabled and may need to be configured in the Double Opt-in tab of the Jurisdiction page if you wish to enable them. Refer to the Setup Double Opt-in section for more information.

The Allow editing of consent preferences in the email notification checkbox gives users the option to enable or disable the feature that permits data subjects to edit their consent preferences in the Double Opt-in email notification. If display rule and option rule are present, the rules should also apply. The new preference set in the email notification will override the value previously submitted. The system tags the consent as active once reconfirmed with updates.

The Do not send an e-mail reminder for subsequent Opt-ins checkbox provides users control for sending Double Opt-in email reminders. When enabled, the system checks for the latest active consent of the Data Subject. If opt-in is detected, the system no longer sends the double opt-in email notification and will mark the subsequent consent as “Active.” This feature also applies to Third Party to CPM Custom and Rapid API integrations. When this feature is enabled, the following behaviors are observed:

  • If a user has a latest active Opt-in (Partial/Full) and submits a subsequent Opt-in (Partial/Full), the system sets the consent to “Active,” and does not send a Double Opt-in email.

  • If a user has an active Opt-out of All and submits a subsequent Opt-in (Partial/Full) from the enabled region in the Jurisdiction page using the CPM form, the system sets the consent to “Pending,” and sends a Double Opt-in email.

  • If a user is submitting a consent for the first time and the region is enabled for Double Opt-in in the Jurisdiction page using the CPM form, and the consent is Opt-in (Partial/Full), the system creates it as “Pending” and sends a Double Opt-in email.

  • If the user is submitting an Opt-out of All, the system sets the consent to , and does not send a Double Opt-in email.

Under the Consent Rule section (2), you can click the Setup Jurisdiction Control link, then the Consent Rule tab of the Jurisdiction page opens in another window to enable you to set up their consent rules.

Double Opt-in in Consent Form Level

Users can choose to enable the jurisdiction for double opt-in. However, it will only apply to the consent form where the jurisdiction was enabled.

The list of jurisdictions in the Control tab are based on the user’s selection in the Form Builder tab. If the user did not select any jurisdiction in the Form Builder tab, the list is empty and the user can configure the global control set up in the Jurisdiction page.

When users click the Jurisdiction page link, the Jurisdiction page then opens in another tab. Users can add jurisdiction by clicking the Add New button and by selecting the geographical areas in the Add Jurisdiction modal.

If double opt-in is disabled for a specific country in the Control tab of the Consent Form page, and then enabled or vice versa, they will encounter a warning modal.

Note that jurisdictions added in the Consent Form will be disabled by default if they are not added to the Jurisdiction Double Opt-In table.
