Cloning a Data Inventory Record

Overview

If you need to create a data inventory record that is similar to one you have already set up, you can clone the existing record to speed up the process. Cloning copies the record's configuration so you can quickly create a new one with minimal manual entry.

You can clone any type of data inventory record — System, Third Party, or Company Affiliate — except Primary Entity records. This article explains how to clone a data inventory record.

What you can do
Clone an existing System, Third Party, or Company Affiliate record
Optionally include tags and attachments in the cloned record
Prerequisites
Active TrustArc account with Data Inventory access
At least one existing System, Third Party, or Company Affiliate record to clone
Cloning a Data Inventory Record

To clone a data inventory record, follow these steps:

From the left side of the page, hover over the Data Mapping & Risk Manager icon, and then select Data Inventory.

Click the ellipsis icon () to the right of the record you want to clone, and then select Clone.

In the Clone Record modal, enter a unique name for the cloned record. If you want to include tags or attachments, select the checkbox next to each option.

Click Clone.

📋 Note: The cloned record appears at the top of the Data Inventory list once the process is complete.
