BigID Integration

BigID is a Data Discovery solution. It can connect to many different types of data storage systems and search for data specific to any given Data Subject.

Configuring and Enabling BigID Integration

BigID can be configured and enabled in a few simple steps.

  1. Select BigID from the Integrations menu and enter your login details.

  2. Click the Test Connection button to allow IRM to connect to BigID to verify the credentials provided. If the connection is successful, the Next button is enabled.

  1. Understand the attributes that are required for data search.

NOTE: If SAR attributes change in BigID, click Get updated attributes to fetch the new attributes from BigID.
  1. Map BigID attributes to intake form fields and save the configuration. For all active intake forms, BigID integration needs to be set as Required, Not Required, or Optional.

      • If BigID integration is set to Required, then for all requests submitted using such intake forms, data search will be conducted.

      • If integration is set to Not Required,  then data search is not conducted.

      • Optional is set for internal intake forms that are used by DPOs and Admins to submit requests on behalf of a Data Subject. In this case, a checkbox appears in the intake form and the person submitting the requests can decide whether data search needs to happen.

NOTE: If BigID integration is set to Required or Optional, then required BigID SAR attributes must be mapped in the intake form to form fields.

When a request created from an intake form that has BigID Required goes to In Progress status, IRM sends an API request to BigID to search for data for the data subject. Any data (or error) returned by BigID is logged in the comments section of the request.

  1. Complete step four for all active intake forms.

  2. Once all intake forms are mapped, BigID integration can be enabled.

NOTE: When a request created from the intake form that has BigID integration enabled goes to In Progress state, IRM sends an API request to BigID to search for data for the Data Subject. If data is found, it is attached to the request as a CSV.
