This feature, when enabled, allows IRM to automatically extend the due date on a Data Subject Request as soon as it is due. By default, this feature is turned off. Admins can turn this feature on for any Jurisdiction, Request Type, and Data Subject Type combination. To do this, simply click the Automatic Extension checkbox when editing Due in Days Extension.
Once this feature is enabled, the request will automatically be extended based on what is provided in the Extension Period when the due date reaches zero. An email notification is also sent if the Send Auto Extension Notification setting is enabled in the Notifications tab. When you set the Extension Period to zero, the system automatically disables the Automatic Extension field.
If Extension Period is set to zero for a jurisdiction, when the user clicks the Extend Due Date button in the request coming from that jurisdiction, a warning is displayed informing the user that extension may not be allowed in that jurisdiction.
You can proceed with extending the request by clicking the I am aware of this warning and will continue extending the request checkbox.
Important: A lot of the regulations do not allow extensions to due dates or only allow extensions for specific Request Types. Please be mindful of this while enabling the automatic extension. To help with this decision, we provide regulatory guidance on due date extension for all jurisdictions and provide default behavior in any given jurisdiction.
