If you are a current TrustArc customer who is using TrustArc’s Platform, this section will help you get started with PrivacyCentral.
Before activating PrivacyCentral, you may have already entered information when Creating a Primary Entity including Accountability Mechanisms into your Policy & Standards Library. Your organization’s progress on its privacy journey will be visible as TrustArc’s intelligence engine scans the data you provided in My Company Info and the Accountability Mechanisms you have entered into the platform.
Viewing and Updating Your Company Profile
You can access and change your company profile from the Organization Hierarchy at any time while logged into your account.
- To begin, click the (+) icon on the Organization Hierarchy page to display the Setup Organization Entity panel.
- Supply basic information about your company (e.g., location of your headquarter/s, industry sectors, company type, number of employees, who are your customers, and who do you process data about). Refer to the figure below for the required fields (marked with an asterisk [*]) and other optional fields.
-
Then, click the Save button at the bottom of the panel. The system analyzes the information you provided and directs you to the Applicable Standards page.
Viewing Program Overview Page
When you go to the Program Overview page, you will notice how far you have progressed in meeting the requirements of the standards you selected. This is because TrustArc’s intelligence scan has taken into account the information you entered into the platform, in addition to the Accountability Mechanisms that you have entered into your Policy & Standards Library. For more information, visit the Program Overview.
For example, if you entered an Accountability Mechanism to show your organization has appointed a Data Protection Officer, you will see progress on the BUILD pillar of the TrustArc Framework and laws such as GDPR, UK GDPR, and Brazil’s LGPD. By having that Accountability Mechanism in your library, your organization has already demonstrated compliance with a control requiring the appointment of a Data Protection Officer. This means you will not have to answer a question about whether you appointed one. TrustArc’s intelligence already knows you have.
-
In the Program Overview, all laws or standards are clickable to open the Insights by Law page, where the Review button is available.
-
You can begin examining the results of the Intelligence Scan and answering questions. Start answering questions for any external standard focusing on what is a priority for your organization. You can also continue to build out your Policy and Standards Library by adding Accountability Mechanisms.
- With TrustArc’s intelligence and using the information that you have provided across the platform, you only need to answer the questions that are relevant to your organization and where an Accountability Mechanism has not yet been added to demonstrate compliance with a requirement. This enables you to prioritize laws and standards according to your organization’s program priorities and strategy. To learn how to answer your remaining standard and/or framework questions, refer to Getting Started with Framework-Level Questions, Step 1.
- To add Accountability Mechanisms and manage your policy and standards library, refer to the Policy and Standards Library section.
- You can generate a summary report for each of the laws and standards. A summary report provides key information about a specific law or standard to help you understand how it applies to your organization and how it aligns with the TrustArc Framework. For a detailed discussion on how to generate a summary report, refer to the Generating Reports section.
