The InfoGraphics section provides graphical representations of the information collected in the scan and contains the following items:
- Top Third Parties with Cookies
- Tracker Performance
- Tracker Graph
Note: The domain selector ONLY adjusts the report for the Tracker Performance and Tracker Graph items.
Top Third Parties with Cookies
This displays the five Third Party Service Providers which place the most cookies on your website.
Tracker Performance
TrustArc provides tracker performance information for all Service Provider domains across the entire website scanned. Your report summary includes a summary of the Third Party Service Providers with the highest latency/load times. To access detailed performance metrics for a particular domain, select the domain name from the drop down box and click on the Tracker Performance graph.
The Tracker Performance graph allows you to:
- Understand which trackers are most prevalent on your site.
- Understand which trackers are most likely to affect site performance based on the time they take to load.
- Understand which trackers pose the biggest threat based on the number of bytes uploaded compared to downloaded (i.e., how much information are they taking from your site). The more bytes uploaded, the bigger the potential risk.
The Y-axis of the graph is the average number of resources per page and indicates the prevalence of the tracker on your site based on the number of HTTP requests. The X-axis of the graph is the amount of time required (in milliseconds) for the tracker to load. Hovering over a particular tracker on the Tracker Performance graph displays the following information:
- Domain – This is the Service Provider domain the tracker was dropped from.
- Average Time – This is the average time (in milliseconds) it takes the tracker to load on the site.
- Average Resources per Page – This is the average number of calls made by the tracker to the domain (per page) across the site.
- Total Resource Count – This is the total number of calls made by the tracker to the domain for the scan.
- Average Bytes Uploaded – This is the average number of bytes uploaded from the site to the domain.
- Average Bytes Downloaded – This is the average number of bytes downloaded to the site from the domain.
Focus Bar
The Focus Bar allows you to focus on different sections of the performance graph by clicking and dragging the slider at the bottom of the graph. The tracker list below the Tracker Performance graph filters according to your selection.
Tracker Graph
The Tracker Graph provides a graphic representation of all tracking across your website and all the redirects to different third parties in the tracker chain. To view the Tracker Graph for any particular report select the appropriate domain and click on the ‘sunburst’ diagram in your report summary.
Using the Tracker Graph
The Tracker Graph is intended to be interactive. You can hover over any segment of the sunburst to get more information about who the party is and click on that party to view all chains.
Each segment of the graph represents a particular domain that is using tracking technologies. The default view of the graph is to view by Number of Requests. In this view the size of the segment represents the number of requests made to a particular party - a larger segment indicates that more requests are being made by a particular third party. Changing the view to Unique Domains will adjust the graph view to a more even distributed view of each domain found across the site.
Follow the links from your site (the center white circle), to each of the outer bands surrounding it. The band touching the center circle represents calls made directly from your site. The additional bands represent additional calls made out by vendors to other third parties. Each segment within a band represents a different third party. By viewing the length of the chains you can easily see the chains with multiple redirects.
Interacting with the Tracker Graph
Click on any third party segment to see the resource chains involving that third party. The default view for the resource chains is All PSI Levels, however you can adjust this to show only a particular PSI level using the drop-down menu under the vendor information.
The Tracker Graph contains the following information:
- Host – This is the domain the tracker was dropped from.
- Primary Category – This is the primary business category the Service Provider is categorized in by TrustArc (i.e. Ad Network, Data Provider / Aggregator, Social / Sharing Tools, etc.).
- Weight – This represents the number of different domains within the scan calling the Service Provider. In the above example Weight: 1 indicates that the only domain calling that party is www.trustarc.com. If additional domains were making calls out to that party then weight would be higher based on the number of unique urls calling that party.
- Depth – This indicates at what level the third party is being called. Depth: 1 indicates that the Service Provider is being called directly by the site being scanned.
Exporting Chains
From this report you can choose to export the specific chain for the Service Provider under review with the current filters applied, or select to export all resource chains for the entire site. For more information on exporting reports please see the Exporting Reports section in the Appendix.
