The Scans section contains an overview of all scans which have been setup and initiated for your account. If your account has Self-Service Scanning enabled you can create new scans from this section.
The Scans section contains the following information:
- Scan Name – This is the name of the configured scan. Clicking on a scan name will take you to the Report Details for the scan.
- URLs – This is the list of domains used to configure your scan.
- Schedule – This is the frequency of the scan. This can be One-Time, Day, Week, or Month.
- Last Run – This is the date of the last scan run (in PST).
- Next Scheduled Run – This is the scheduled date of the next run for either recurring runs or runs scheduled for a future date.
- Status – This is the status of the scan. This can be Running, Scheduled, or Complete.
Creating New Scans
If your account has Self-Service Scanning enabled, you can create new scans by clicking the New Scan button which will load the Add New Scan page.
NOTE: TrustArc’s Self-Service Scanning uses the Firefox browser.
To create a new scan, you will need to enter the following information:
- Scan Name – This is the unique scan name.
NOTE: As scan names must be unique, TrustArc suggests incorporating a naming convention for your scans.
- Add URL – These are the domains used to initiate your scan. Multiple domains can be entered
delimited by commas, spaces, or newlines.
NOTE: If no protocol is included in the URL the HTTP protocol will be used by default. If your domain uses HTTPS, it is recommended to include the protocol when entering the URL.
- Scan Type – This is the type of scan which will be performed. There are three types of scans which can be run.
- Default – The Default scan type scans for tracking technologies and will retry scanning each included domain three times if any errors are encountered.
- High-alert – The High-alert scan type scans for tracking technologies and will fail the scan of the domain if any errors are encountered.
- PII Detection – The PII Detection scan type includes Privacy Scanning in addition to scanning for tracking technologies.
- Scan Location – This is the location the scan is performed from and can be either the US or EU. Additionally, TrustArc offers a Static IP option for both locals - please contact your Technical Account Manager for more information on the Static IP option.
- Page Depth – This is the number of ‘link-levels’ the scanner will scan. A link found on the initiating domain would have a ‘link-level’ of 1, a link found on that page would have a ‘link-level’ of 2, etc.
- Max Pages – This is the maximum number of pages which will be included in the scan.
- Schedule – This is the frequency of the scan. You can also schedule a specific date to initiate the scan on.
Once the above information has been entered you can click Schedule Scan to initiate the scan or click Advanced Settings. Clicking Advanced Settings will allow you to further refine the scan parameters for each domain such as entering login credentials, adding an Inclusion / Exclusion Pattern, or setting Mandatory Pages to be scanned.
